Codabar
The Codabar barcode symbology is used for various numeric barcoding applications including libraries, blood banks and parcels. The Codabar barcode was designed for symbol self-checking, eliminating the requirement for checksum symbols. However, checksum characters in the Codabar barcode are optional and they do maximize data integrity.
The symbology is also known as Code 2 of 7, NW-7, ABC Codabar, USD-4, Monarch, Code-27, Ames code, or Rationalized Codabar.
Codabar can encode the digits 0 through 9, six symbols (-:.$/+), and the start/stop characters A, B, C, D. The start/stop characters must be used in matching pairs and may not appear elsewhere in the barcode.
Valid characters: "0".."9", "-", "$", ":", "/", ".", "+", "A", "B", "C", "D"
